Ever since I found out I was pregnant I have given up caffeine. Now for those who know me, this is a huge deal!

To demonstrate my love of coffee in my previous job, I was travelling, waking up in a new city every day of the week. My cup of Joe and the experiences of finding a new coffee shop, was truly the highlight of my travels. In a pre-covid world, when on vacation, searching for coffee shops with my partner or mom are some of my favourite memories! I love the smell, the taste, the ritual of making this delicious drink in the early morning.

I think you get the point. I love coffee.

I have found that sometimes coffee makes me antsy. Not a good combo when growing a tiny human, at least not in my mind. Additionally, it is the most chemically sprayed crop in the world. The best way to evade the chemicals in coffee is to buy single origin, organic coffee beans, which are expensive to say the least.

So I came up with an affordable alternative. Here is a recipe that helps to soothe the body, the whole system. The cacao does contain caffeine so but it is so low of a dose that it shouldnt impact the nervous system quite the same way! The other ingredients are soothing to the nervous system as well!

This elixir ritual has been a wonderful ritual to replace my desire for coffee, so here is the how and why!
☀️1 glob of organic tahini: rich in healthy fats which is important for mood regulation and metabolism (energy).
☀️ mix the tahini with hot water until smooth.
☀️ 1 heaping glob of cacao powder: rich in iron, zinc, and magnesium, which are minerals that help support your blood pressure and heart!
☀️ 1 mini glob of maca powder: adrenal gland support which supports organs that combat stress.. Also great for fertility in both males and females.
☀️ 1 cup of unsweetened nut milk, heated on a stovetop beforehand. I love almond/cashew milk! This is a good source of calcium and healthy fats (anti-inflammatory).
☀️ 1 mini glob of honey: delicious, rich in antioxidants which supports your body from oxidative stress (causes bodily disorder). Contains antifungal and antibacterial properties, hand is a natural sweetener. If its local honey it helps with seasonal alllergies as it supports the immune system!
☀️ mix and enjoy!!

If you are wanting it cold, mix the same way and add some ice cubes!

Here is a quick video to see the method in which i make this morning delicious beverage:
