To say that this year has been trying, could very well be the most egregious understatement I’ve heard in my life. However, I have, in this time, really learned that the strength I possess and the will to learn and grow is greater than any challenge I can face.
I'm grateful that at the beginning of this pandemic I was already doing work for my wellness, through acupuncture and a bit of meditation and prayer, that would set me in a place of peace and groundedness.
Being an entertainer is more than the glitz and glam you may see portrayed in the media. The energy it takes to create a character and live in that life on top of your actual lived experience, is draining and fulfilling at the same time.
Artists bare their hearts and souls to audiences. Some of the most memorable experiences you’ve had as an audience member, I can guarantee, are because someone was vulnerable and let you into a part of them that took time for them to allow themselves the permission to be that.
This year of quarantine and separation has really helped me dig into places I once ignored or skirted around; facing childhood traumas, family discord, identity, sexuality, how all of that affects relationships as an adult.
Through meditation , yoga practices, life coaches/therapy, I continue to find ways to approach every day with grace. Every human experience is layered with so many details, and I carry the energy of conscious sensitivity and understanding that we are individual for a reason.
My mother raised me to understand that my gifts were not about me but how my experiences in life can help someone else. If we get out of our own way, we can live fulfilled lives that inform and help others on their journey.
Giving yourself the permission to be authentic and unique in everything that you are, is hard, but the rewards are boundless. As you find what grounds you, make room for growth and exploration.
Take bits and pieces from everywhere to cultivate the life that helps you vibrate at the highest version of yourself. It will resonate, not only for you, but that truth will become infectious and make the biggest difference for those around you.
I hope you will push yourself, little by little, day by day, to be free from the conditional ideals that have been ingrained in us and watch your life blossom.
All the best,
J. Harrison Ghee
